Artist and designer Amy C Wilson was born in Albany, New York and grew up
in the Albany-Rensselaer area. At the age of 18, she moved to New York City
and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts for Toy Design at the Fashion Institute
of Technology and studied Industrial Design at The Art Institute of
Philadelphia where she specialized in prosthetics. She has resided in
New York City for over 18 years.
Hands that work in various mediums and exhibit an array
has been used to describe Amy C Wilson’s work. Creating everything
from large paper and acrylic paintings on canvas to ‘unusual’ cloth dolls
and plush toys with curious expressions. Amy describes her work:
“I consider my art or design to be an expression of what I find
interesting. I love color, texture, structure and Japanese design.”
Amy has exhibited in various solo and group shows throughout the
New York City, Hudson Valley, and Buffalo area. She has shown her work
at such galleries as Albright Knox Gallery in Buffalo, NY, Superfine in Brooklyn,
NY, Hudson Beach Glass Gallery in Beacon, NY, and various group shows throughout
New York City with artist group she founded, White Studio NYC.
Amy currently resides in Beacon, New York with her husband Kevin. She finds the tranquility of the
Hudson River waterfront inspiring and a great place to live and work.
